We have been rolling along with place value! We are working hard at identifying ones, tens, hundreds, and even thousands in our numbers! We made a place value pocket chart to help us create numbers. We also learned a strategy called Quiz-Quiz-Trade to quiz our peers on place value. Check out our hard work below! The new year is under way! We have been working very hard learning our new classroom, new friends, and new learning. We have been learning about ways to read, reasons for reading and writing, and that math is EVERYWHERE! Check out some photos of us in action! Hello friends! I hope you have been enjoying your summer! I had lots of fun at summer school and even got to see some of you! Do you remember how I shared that Mireya's mom was having another baby? Guess what! On the last day of summer school, Merida Grace was born! So I have been spending lots of time with Mireya, Molly, and Merida! Ashlyn has also been on the top of my list! She turns 2 in August. She is still super silly and loves to be outside! Of course, Lucie and Wiley have been their normal, crazy selves. Wiley really likes that I get to spend more time at home. He has learned how to open the drawer with his lazer toy from underneath the table. It's so funny to see the drawer open "all by itself"! So, I have had a relaxing few weeks, but I am getting very excited for the upcoming year. I will be heading up to school this week to start unpacking our classroom (it's so empty!). What have you been up to?!
We had a great time on our field trip to the Discovery Nature Center on Thursday. Although it was oddly cold and rainy, we were still able to learn a lot! We spent the morning at Becoming Bears where we learned about the life cycle of bears, different growls/calls they use with their young, what type of food they eat, and what their dens are like. After lunch we learned about other animals, habitats, and were even able to touch live animals. We had a fun time! Below is a performance of Goldilocks and the Cops performed by Zarek, Chance, Fred, Erika, Mckenna, and Andrew. Enjoy! We started a new writing unit on procedural writing ("how-to). We learned pretty quickly what could happen when directions were not very specific... Luckily, when we tried it again with much more specific directions, we had much better luck! We have more hard workers! Delaney, Logan, Bayler, and Hope used facts they learned about sharks to make an informational video. Check it out! |
