We received another author letter this past week! Mark Teague is the author of Dear Mrs. LaRue, The Great Gracie Chase, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, and many more. He replied back in a handwritten letter on notebook paper. Very cool! You can find it below!

This week, one of our reading groups is reading about Native American traditions and it mentioned the traditional hoop dance. We watched, in awe, this amazing dance. They asked me to post it, so enjoy! What a beautiful dance (it begins around 2 minutes in). Our research projects are complete! After a long time (and 5 snow days!) we have finally finished and presented our hard work. Students did a great job researching, using non-fiction text feautres, and presenting. They are so proud of their work and so am I! We have been learning about geometric shapes! Today, we explored our learning with a geometry game, we constructed plane and solid shapes with toothpick edges and marshmallow vertices, and we identified and graphed geometric-shaped snacks! Thank you so much for donating our "tools" for learning today. We had so much fun being hands-on today. Sunday, April 7, Raymore Elementary is holding a Hair-cut-athon carnival to support Connor's Make-A-Wish fundraiser. It is looking to be a tremendously fun-filled afternoon! It will be held from 1:00-5:00. There will be hair cutting, moon walks, a petting zoo, face painting, tattoos, silent auction items, a jail for teachers, and SO much more! For more information, check out our school website here.
If you can volunteer some time or materials, please click here to sign up. It will be tons of fun and such a great cause. I hope to see you all there Sunday, April 7! Today we received author letter responses from 2 authors!
